Dear fellow members,
I am trying to decipher a chart of a young boy who was born with incurable DMD. It is a genetic muscular disorder. The boy is confined to a wheel chair. I am looking for some help from the members on this list.

Here are the birth details: 

4th April 1991, Bombay 2:58 pm

The lagna is Cancer with Jupiter and Ketu. The lord of ascendant Moon is in the 5th house. Lord of 8th house - Saturn is in the 7th. I applied the three rules for longevity according to COVA. The result I got was long life. According to Jagannath's rule, since the lord of 8th [Saturn] is in 7th, the longevity of the boy goes to the second quadrant of long life [72-108 years].

Before applying the rules for longevity, you should check the chart against all Janmaristhas [evils at birth]. There maybe Tithi Gadantha for example, as he was born at the end of Panchami.

Also check any combinations for Balarishta, that may override the standard methods for longevity. In charts like these, it should be checked before stating any longevity. Even if Balarishta combinationsa are not present, good longevity cannot be predicted up till the age of 12 years, within which time, any child can pass away.

Rahu being the Atmakaraka is also Rasi Sandhi. Usually, Rahu indicates an advanced soul and one who is bound to make much spiritual advancement in this life which may often also include much punichment from the Atmakaraka. Paka Lagna Moon is debilitated in 5th house, is also not good for health. But exalted Jupiter with Ketu in lagna is again not good for spirituality. Also Sun in 9th with Arudha Lagna.

Anyway, let's get back to the disease:

The significator of Majha Dhatu [and genes also] is Mars. The Karaka for muscles is Saturn. Mars is 12th from lagna, but in a dual sign, so this could reveal some prospects for healing the disease. Had it been in a fixed sign, there is no way for cure. Mars is badhakesh for Saturn, so the genetic problem obstructs the functioning of muscles. Also debilitated Moon is in Badhak sign from Saturn. This problem may very well be of karmic origin as Saturn is conjoined by atmakaraka Rahu. Also Mandi is very close to his Mrityu Bhaga. The exaltation of Jupiter on the lagna may also give some prospects for cure.

In D-6, Jupiter is lagnesh and is in 9th house, again stressing his role in the child's health. The problematic points here are Rahu and Ketu in 8th house of disease. Sun is in 12th while Rahu and Ketu are in Badhak sign from him. Mars conjoins Mercury in Arudha of 6th house. This is also troublesome as Mercury is Badhakesh for Saturn.

Rahu conjoins Moon lord of 9th, thereby creating Shakti yoga and gives argala on saturn in 2nd. This indicates an evil mind and maybe also envy towards younger siblings.

Rasi is much better regarding the concerned points of previous life. Jupiter is exalted in Rasi and sun is in 9th house.

Interestingly, the first Moola dasa between 1991 and 2001 was that of Jupiter, which is Naisargika Guru Karaka and lord of 9th house. Jupiter is also lord of Roga pada [A8] therefore, is is possible to be born with the disease. The next Moola dasa is that of Ketu which will run until 2004. Ketu is in parivatana with Moon. I don't expect the karmic effects will cease during this period. Maybe the period of Saturn from 2004 - 2022 as Saturn is Rogesha [lord of 8th house] in 12th from it can end the disease as he conjoins and disposits Rahu, the Atmakaraka which gives these sufferings.
