PREFACE

Bismillaahir Rahmannir Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Being born in a traditionally Muslim country, Azarbaijan, and having forefathers who were devoted Muslims, I have studied the Holy Qur'an and the Hadith since my childhood. My grandfather Rasul, who was a very scholarly person and to whom I owe all my knowledge, enlightened me with the Islamic teachings. We often discussed the Holy Qur'an and the characteristics of Almighty Allah. These discussions formed the basis of my philosophical questions on the attributes of Allah, of His impersonal or personal nature. If Allah is impersonal then what is the basis of that impersonal nature? We discussed this many times but mostly without any definite authority or end.

The features of Allah have intrigued me ever since, so in my life’s journey I began to search for the Truth. I was fortunate enough to come across an incident which occurred 480 years ago between a learned scholar and a pure devotee. This conversation shed light on what the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallal-lahu alaihe wa Salam) meant in the Holy Qur'an.

My attempt to describe this conversation is an honest attempt to present the attributes of Allah. If in this respect I help even a single person in understanding Almighty Allah, I consider my attempt worthwhile.
